LINKS as an Assistive Tech

Post by RayB903 »

Hey Guys,

New to LINKS and using it as an Assistive Technology due to being visually impaired. After reading through the forum posts and the documentation, setting up LINKS was relatively easy. It now launches my programs, controls my screen reader, manages my Kindle for the PC audio book library, works with my financial software and more.

To improve accessibility in my home I have LINKS working with my home automation, network IP Camera and alarm system software. LINKS makes it easier for me to control all of these systems from one place.

The one thing I want to find a way to do is trigger LINKS to respond to events. For example, when an IP Camera detects motion and triggers an event, it would be awesome if LINKS could notify me. The same for my alarm and home automation systems. This would give LINKS the appearance of initiating a conversation about relevant situations. I’ve got a lot to learn yet, but if anyone has any ideas or suggestions I’d like to hear them.

You can call LINKS functions via get requests.

so if ur cam allows to execute a http request, you can call LINKS to speak whatever you need.

take a look at our wiki for web request syntax.
