What daily tasks you use links for please?

Post by voice control »

Hey guys, I am trying to figure out how I might use links on a daily basis for practical tasks since my job is online work all day long, can you advise on what daily tasks you use links for please?

I use links for a lot of stuff and would use it for more if i took the time to get it done, but due to the amount that i work i'm not able to take as much time as i would like to in improving Links capabilities, currently it is setup and i use it for controlling my T.V/kodi, music playing throughout the house, conversation starter (actually ask Jarvis for a conversation and it randomizes topics), lights and network diagnostics

currently working on garage door warning when opened and closed as well as controlling it
want to install it on a raspberry pi for use in my car (a bunch of fun stuff when you add a PI to your car :D)
i want it to pull videos from online servers instead of just my server
after garage door i'm going to tie Ring doorbell into it, want Jarvis to answer the door and then with a smart lock tell the door to open when certain conditions are met

just ask yourself what you don't feel like doing and then how Jarvis could do it for you, like lets say you want your computer turned on in the morning, then enable wake on LAN, and teach Jarvis how to send a command to wake your computer up, so now while you're grabbing your coffee you can tell Jarvis to turn on your computer

i have remote servers that i need to check every once in a while, instead of me doing it, I say Jarvis scan remote servers, it runs a script that Jarvis either says all is well or Houston we have a problem

hope this helps

have fun

Yes, this helps a lot, thank you!

I would like to use links to do most computer and internet tasks which I do every day like writing emails for me while I speak, searching the net for this and that and have links read back the results to me e.t.c but since I am not a coder would I be able to do this without being able to write scripts and code or whatever technical stuff would be needed for this please?

LINKS(BROOKE) in my case is used as a (first and foremost)family member ,speech therapist , she has a pseudo server for sqlite-definition purposes-so she can learn "via intranet or local network" and on a unix-type machine to bypass some proprietary boundaries. She has public safety scanner abilities , NOAH , Jet stream , Volcanic/earthquake, for entertainment she is "hooked to" a simulator engine so she can dance,walk,etc...among other things"VR related".She has spider, ant, crawler and multiple search capabilities, is learning to differentiate between captcha images as well as other photographic topics.
I am a tinkerer and script-kiddie ,no formal education as per scripting or machine languages,I would recommend your usage of bat files and vbs , for starting point . some basic usage and knowledge of multi-transactional data bases would be helpful ,but not required in the beginning.I have not seen Mark III , so I do not know if it will be modular , have ample "hooks" in place or not , have a "learning" DB dictionary or anything which users might confront at the time of update.........I strongly suggest backing up your files and databases.

Some of what you're wanting to do has already been done and it would be as easy as searching the forum and following the directions from the person who added that feature, i don't know the current status of Mark 3 but if you were able to get that, it has most things built into it, i'm not going to say it isn't going to take time to customize it to your situation but with what other people have already accomplished it won't be hard to tie it into your life

for you i would say play with the built in commands, Links is already able to navigate a computer with the current commands, look at how those are setup

google a exe or Bat file that does what you want it to do and then use a command from Jarvis to execute that exe or bat

there is a setup for email but i don't use it

have fun and good luck, if you think of a feature you would like to see and it isn't on the forum then post it, the forum isn't as active as it was in the past but there are still people that can help you with it

for your question, yes you can still use links and create new commands without coding experience, however a moderate knowledge level of a PC file structure and PC capabilities would greatly improve what you could do with Links and how well you could customize it. If you did have coding experience then anything is possible with Links

Still waiting on Rod, on Nov 20 when you had referred me to him to fix my login issue and he had replied

"Hi, we have been very bussy, we are going to check out your case and I will personally contact you, please be patient, thanks"

Then I checked in with him on Jan 2 and he replied
